Our state-of-the-art office is located in Versailles, OH. We use CEREC® one-visit crown technology, digital intra oral and panoramic X-rays, and a diode laser for oral surgery.

  • Dr. Stephanie L. Sommer, DDS

    Dr. Sommer was born and raised in Coldwater, Ohio along with her three sisters and four brothers. She grew up on a dairy farm where she spent her time helping, playing and learning what hard work is all about. Dr. Sommer can recall wanting to be a dentist ever since the third grade. She has fond memories of her childhood dentist, Dr. Forsthofel, being so kind and gentle. She strives to be just like him. She attended and graduated from Defiance College and then received her dental degree from The Ohio State University in 2005.

    Dr. Sommer met Matthew, her husband, while at OSU. After graduation, she moved back “home” where she always wanted to settle down and join a dental office. Dr. Sommer worked in Lima and then Versailles. She loved the Versailles area so much she decided to purchase Versailles Dental in 2010 as she knew this is where she wanted to establish roots and settle down permanently.

    Dr. Sommer currently resides in Minster on her husband’s family farm with their six children Eleanor, Blake, Thomas, Mary Catherine, Amelia, and Regina. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. During her free time, she likes to run, garden, rollerblade, and cook. She is a member of the Western Ohio Dental Society, Ohio Dental Association, and American Dental Association. Dr. Sommer is also certified with the American Academy of Facial Esthetics.

  • Dr. Ryan Humphreys, DDS

    Dr. Humphreys grew up just down the road in Fort Loramie, Ohio. A lifelong Buckeye fan, Dr. Humphreys received his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from The Ohio State University in 2016 before attending The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduating in 2020.

    Dr. Humphreys prides himself on the importance of education in order to provide his patients with the highest caliber of care. In his years since graduation, Dr. Humphreys has completed coursework on predictable crown and bridge outcomes, minimally invasive root canal therapy, and taken over 60 hours of professional instruction at Implant Pathway where he was trained on placing and restoring dental implants for patients who are wanting to enhance their missing or incomplete smile. Dr. Humphreys is also currently attending a series of continuing education courses at the Kois Center in Seattle where he has amassed over 200 hours in advanced training. From this instruction, he plans on bringing back evidence-based dentistry to the area in order to treat the needs of patients with simple or complex treatment plans, biting issues, joint/jaw pain, cosmetic dental issues, missing tooth/teeth replacement options, and many other concerns.

    Dr. Humphreys and his wife Aly met during their time at OSU. Aly is currently an operating room nurse at Miami Valley Hospital and is originally from New Bremen. When not working, Dr. Humphreys and Aly remain active with their fox red Labrador, Ridley, and look forward to beginning a family in the near future. Dr Humphreys also enjoys time spent with friends and family, weekend trips to the lake with his wife, hunting at his family’s cabin in southeast Ohio, and discovering new restaurants to try.

    Dr. Humphreys is extremely excited to be back in the area he grew up in to treat the same people that helped shape him into who he is today. It is his goal to make sure every patient who walks in the door is treated with compassion and leaves with a better understanding of their mouth and its importance to systemic health.

  • Dr. Mark Armstrong, DDS

    Dr. Armstrong is a graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine, in Cleveland, Ohio. After receiving his degree in 1989, he returned to his hometown of Troy, Ohio to practice. Through a combination of state of the art technology, sensible treatment plans and genuine devotion to the unique needs of each patient, Dr. Armstrong strives to preserve healthy teeth and gums, alleviate oral discomfort and improve the appearance of his patients' smiles.

    He has applied his unique blend of artistic and technical skills to produce durable and aesthetic results in thousands of patients. With his numerous professional associations with dental boards, organizations, and continuing education, Dr. Armstrong is dedicated to his patients' care through lifelong learning.

    Dr. Armstrong is licensed by the Ohio State Dental Board and is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Forensic Science, the American Society of Forensic Odontology, the American Association of Dental Boards, the Ohio Dental Association, Western Ohio Dental Society, Dayton Dental Society, and the Dayton Dental Society Mass Disaster Response Team.

    He is an examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA), and also serves on the board of directors as its vice-chair. Dr. Armstrong is a forensic odontologist for the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, and is a past member of the National Disaster Medical System with DMORT, Region 5. He is a delegate in the Ohio Dental Association and has worked on numerous committees and task forces within the Association. Dr. Armstrong was appointed to the Ohio State Dental Board by Governor Taft in 2004, and served as its president in 2009.

    Dr. Armstrong was selected by the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to assist in victim identification in the 9-11 World Trade Center Disaster, and assisted victims of Hurricane Katrina by taking a mobile dental office to Louisiana and working on emergency and urgent care patients.

    He was awarded the Ohio Dental Association Marvin Fisk Humanitarian Award in 2006, and was inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the International College of Dentists, both in 2004.

    Dr. Armstrong and his wife Cameron reside in Troy and have four children: Andy Jane, William, Jackson, and Calvin.

  • Nicole Sowers

    Front Office Manager

    Nicole joined the Versailles Dental staff in 2012 as their front office manager. She has worked in the dental field since 2008. She completed the dental assisting course at Edison State Community College in 2008. She earned a Certificate of Dental Radiology in 2008.

    Nicole married Randy in 1991 and lives in Covington. Nicole has two boys Jacob, his wife Casie and Joshua, along with three darling grandchildren whom she thoroughly enjoys spending time with. In Nicole’s free time she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

  • Carey Whittington

    Front Office

    Carey has worked in the dental field since 2005. Her favorite thing about dentistry is making patients and families feel at home. She will be at the front desk with Nicole helping you with all your scheduling needs. Carey and her husband Darin have 4 grown children and 4 granddaughters. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.

  • Amanda James,

    Amanda James

    Hygienist

    Amanda graduated as a dental hygienist in 2013 from Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. With ten years experience she found her dental home with Dr. Sommer in 2020. Amanda is passionate about getting to know her patients and making them feel comfortable at each visit.

    Originally from Fort recovery, she lives outside of Versailles with her husband , Austin and daughter, Evelyn. Amanda enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, vactioning and spending time with her family!

  • Cathy Peters

    Hygienist

    Cathy Peters is a 1993 graduate of The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash. She worked in Cincinnati for five years, then returned to Versailles area in 1998 and began working for Dr. DiSalvo. That practice has changed and evolved into the current Versailles Dental. Through that change, Cathy has remained committed to the practice and patients. Cathy is certified in local anesthesia and CPR, and provides dental education at the local elementary school. She has been married to Scott for 25 years and has three children, Collin and Ellen, both students at Miami University; and Emma, a student at Versailles High School. They live on a small farm where they raise sheep and horses. Cathy is active in her church, the Versailles Athletic Boosters, showing sheep, and enjoys sewing.

  • Katie Huwer

    Hygienist

    Katie began her journey with Versailles Dental in 2010, serving as a loyal hygiene substitute, and joined the team permanently in January of 2017. She is a 2010 graduate of Rhodes State College where she earned her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.

    Katie originates from the Versailles Community and currently resides in St. Henry with her husband, Jason, and their four beautiful daughters, Stella (6), Vivian (4), Gianna (2) and Sylvia (9 months).

    Katie enjoys the dental hygiene field because she feels strongly about educating the surrounding community about the importance of dental health and feels her patients truly become more like family and friends.

    In Katie’s spare time, she enjoys walking, working out, cooking meals for people, making photo books, gardening, and playing with her kids.

  • Michelle Seger

    Hygienist

    You may have already met this wonderful hygienist. She covered for Cathy after her farm accident in December of 2021. She has also covered Katie Huwer’s maternity leave this past year. We loved having her here so much we asked if she would stay. She said “yes.” Michelle received her dental hygiene license in 2005 from Owens Community College. Michelle and her husband reside on a small farm in Fort Loramie with their 3 sons and 1 daughter. Michelle enjoys watching her kids play sports, participate in 4H projects and boating on Norris Lake.

  • Erika Bohman

    Hygenist

    Erika Bohman was raised in Versailles and is a graduate of Versailles High School and Sinclair Community College. During her schooling, she obtained her Associate of Applied Science in dental hygiene. She is certified in administration of local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and CPR. Erika loves being a Dental Hygienist because she aspires to help people regain confidence in their smiles.

    Erika married her high school sweetheart, Aaron Bohman, in May of 2018 and they reside in Russia, Ohio. He is also an active member of Versailles at Mcbo’s Bowling Alley and Bohman’s Dry Carpet Cleaning. During Erika’s free time, she loves taking nature walks, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

  • Maria York

    Hygienist

    Maria York, RDH: Maria has had a presence in our office since 2012. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and brings with her much experience. She has worked at various private practices, an orthodontic office for 7 years and now as an adjunct faculty member at Sinclair Community College. Maria grew up just outside of Fort Loramie, but has lived near Russia since 1999 with her husband Mike. Together they have seven children, raise beef cattle and grain farm. Maria enjoys spending time with her family, being outside, and taking walks.

  • Holly Weiss

    Hygienist

    Holly was raised in nearby Ansonia, Ohio where she was active in sports, FFA, and showed swine at the Darke County Fair. As a little girl she frequently visited the orthodontist office, and became interested in a career in the dental field after seeing how much fun it could be to work with smiles every day.

    She received her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Sinclair Community College in 2004. She began her career at Versailles dental after moving back to the area in 2006. Holly and her husband, Clinton, reside on a small hobby farm in Union City. They have two sons, Anderson and Miller

    She spends most of her time advocating and caring for her son who has cerebral palsy. She enjoys gardening, riding bikes, and camping with family.

  • Sara Strait

    Dental Assistant

    Sara started her dental career in 2020 after completing the Sinclair Community College Dental Assisting Program and obtaining her Radiology certification. Soon after, she became one of our dental assistants at Versailles Dental. She loves working with a great team that emphasizes patient care and enjoys learning new aspects of dentistry along the way.

    Sara lives in Greenville with her fiancé, Bradley and their rescue pup “Stink”. They are planning a wedding for June 2024. In Sara’s free time she enjoys shopping, watching Bradley play his semi pro football and spending quality time with friends, family, and her dog Stink..

  • Darcy Deaton CDA, EFDA

    Dental Assistant

    Darcy started her dental career after high school and furthered her education after a few years of assisting chair side to become a Certified Dental Assistant and Expanded Functions Dental Assistant at Sinclair Community College.

    Darcy has been a part of the team since 2017 filling in as a sub and then on to become Dr Sommers full time assistant in 2020.

    Darcy enjoys her job to the very fullest. The interactions with our patients, young to the elderly and comforting them during treatment , she loves the team member camaraderie and all the wonderful friendships gathered along her journey. She has a love for improving smiles and helping build confidence with our patients.

    Darcy resides in Covington. She is an outdoor country girl at heart. Fall is her most loved season, full of campfires, crunchy leaves and layers or woolen blankets. She is a sunrise and sunset “watcher”, and spends much of her time looking up at the ever changing skies. She absolutely cherishes her quality time with her family and friends.

  • Megan Lavy

    Dental Assistant

    Megan Lavy is one of our dental assistants at Versailles Dental. She completed her dental assistants training in 2017. Megan and her husband Connor along with their two children, Lincoln and Emmy K. They reside outside of Pleasant Hill. Megan enjoys going boating, shopping and being with friends and family. Her favorite thing about dental assisting is being able to educate people about oral health and being able to interact with our patients and comforting them when they are nervous.

  • Ashlyn Homan

    Sterilization Assistant

    Ashlyn is currently a senior at Minster High School. She has had dreams of becoming a Dentist for as long as she can recall. “ Thanks to Dr. Sommer , I have been given the blessing of being able to become part of the team here at Versailles Dental.” I look forward to interacting with all of the patients. and learning more about the dental “field” everyday. i especially love the atmosphere , as you walk in the doors you immediately feel at home. All of the staff are willing to help , and put patient comfort first. Outside of work Ashlyn enjoys golfing, fishing, babysitting and spending time with family and friends.

  • Eleanor Sommer

    Sterilization Assistant

    Eleanor is a freshman at Minster High School and happens to be Dr. Sommer's oldest child. Eleanor joins the team after school and during the summer months to help on the sterilization team, assisting in procedure set ups, restocking operatories, sterilization and more. Elanor has interest in following in her mothers footsteps after high school.

  • Tammy Thomas

    Housekeeping

    Tammy has been responsible for housekeeping services for Dr Stephanie Sommer for 11 years. Tammy and Stephanie met when she was a patient at Versailles Dental. Tammy has worked at Crown Equipment for 17 years and resides in Versailles with her husband Mark. and their Shih Tzu, Katie. Tammy enjoys spending time with her family. She has two sisters and a brother whom also reside in Versailles. Tammy loves to spend time with her six grandchildren and her great grand daughter. Tammy loves being part of the Versailles Dental team. Mark and Tammy enjoy hosting the staff from time to time at their home, and consider them as her second family!
